King Tide Towing provides the towing and storage services for the WA Police Impounds. Please read the below information to help guide you through the process of collecting your vehicle

Before Collection

When a vehicle is due for release, the owner of the vehicle will need to complete an "Application for the release of a motor vehicle impounded under section 79,79A,80B & 80CA". This form can be found either on the WA Police Website or at a local Police Station. The owner will be required to provide 100 points of ID as well as proof of ownership of the vehicle, such as registration papers.

We recommend you complete the form prior to the date of release as it may take a couple hours for processing by the Vehicle Impound Unit.

Once all paperwork has been completed and submitted, it will be processed by the Vehicle Impound Unit. Once it has been approved, you will receive a phone call from them to advise you of the approval.

Next, contact us on 0488 207 382 prior to 2pm to arrange a time to collect the vehicle. Please note that due to being a mobile business, we will pre-arrange a time to meet you at the holding yard. This is typically done in the later part of the afternoon.

At Collection

Once we have arranged a time to meet you at the yard, you will need to arrive on time with your 100 points of ID, including 1 piece of photo ID, and full payment of the impound fees. These can be advised to you over the phone when you have been approved for collection. You will also require a licenced driver to drive the vehicle from the holding yard.

Please note that the only forms of payment accepted are Cash, Debit or Credit Card.

If your car is not registered, you will need to either renew the registration prior to collection, arrange for it to be towed, arrive with a suitable car trailer or have a valid permit to drive from the Department of Transportation

If your car has an expired Work Order (yellow sticker) and the vehicles registration is still active, the vehicle can be driven directly to an authorised inspection station. If the registration is expired, or you want to take it home, you will need to arrange for it to be towed, get a permit to drive from the Department of Transport, or put on a suitable car trailer.

Extra information

If you are not able to pay the full amount due at collection, a payment plan can be arranged through the Vehicle Impound Unit. You will need to get the "Application for impounded vehicle Time Payment Plan" either from the WA Police website or at your local police station. This should be done as soon as possible during the impoundment period.

If you, the owner, are not able to collect the vehicle personally, you can allocate someone else to collect the vehicle on your behalf. To do this, complete the bottom section of your "Application for the release of a motor vehicle impounded under section 79,79A,80B & 80CA" where it states "Authority for collection by another"

If the vehicle is due for collection on a weekend or a public holiday, the vehicle can be collected on the next business day. No extra charges will apply if collected on the first business day.
